Romans twelve, fifteen

Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.

It’s easier to do the first than the second, usually, isn’t it. Weeping with those who weep, though… I love this. Too often, many of us spend too much time doing the “man” thing with those who weep… trying to fix it.

If someone is mourning, it’s far better for us to mourn with them, just sit quietly with them perhaps, just cry with them perhaps, than to try and explain, in our limited way, why this happened and how God will make it better.

Sometimes, people who mourn and weep don’t want that.

Usually, I think they would rather you just sat…

quietly…

…and maybe just cried with them.
